At Parents Anonymous®, all our programs, initiatives, advocacy, and research support the empowerment journey of diverse Parents, Children, and Youth. We believe that Asking for Help is a Sign of Strength®. Everyone is capable of change. From providing emotional support to engaging in meaningful Shared Leadership® with Parents, Parents Anonymous® seeks to create and ensure positive change, foster social connection, and sustain loving and supportive families, communities and societies.

Parents Anonymous® Group

According to the Federal Title IV-E Prevention Clearinghouse, Parents Anonymous® is a nationally recognized program shown to support positive parenting, strengthen well-being, reduce substance abuse, while promoting child safety for families with children and youth of all ages. Additionally, Parents Anonymous® is rated by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse as effective in five programs areas: Parent Partner, Parenting, Primary Prevention, Secondary Prevention and Interventions for Abusive Behavior.

Proven & Trusted Parents Anonymous®
The free and well-established Parents Anonymous® program is designed to strengthen families by providing support for parents, children, and youth of all ages. The program supports those in a parenting role to face personal or family challenges while fostering leadership and community engagement. Parents Anonymous® Program Staff and Parent Leaders ensure all program participants are welcomed, honored, and respected.

There are four (4) key components of the Parents Anonymous® program:

1. Building Family Strengths Interviews
Interviews are conducted to understand the strengths and needs of each family. Based on Parents Anonymous® services, parents set goals for themselves and their children & youth of all ages to support positive growth in their family.

2. Weekly 2-Hour Parents Anonymous® Groups
These free, weekly support groups are open to anyone in a parenting role. The program incorporates supportive processes to strengthen families and promote well-being, including 12 unique monthly themes and 16 supportive parenting strategies designed to enhance protective factors and provide support to address challenges associated with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Every Parents Anonymous® Group is led by trained facilitators and Parent Group Leaders who help build leadership skills, foster personal growth, and contribute to their community.

3. Weekly 2-Hour Parents Anonymous® Groups for Children & Youth
Children and youth of all ages can participate in supportive weekly group sessions that include age-appropriate structured activities focused on well-being, protective factors, and positive engagement. Each group is led by a trained Children & Youth Group Facilitator, who encourages leadership, connection, and community support.

4. Supportive Services Between Group Meetings Additional support and guidance are available between Parents Anonymous® Group meetings. Peer Parents and Group Facilitators can help program participants connect with resources. Parents are also encouraged to call, text, or live chat the National Parent & Youth HelplineTM and California Parent & Youth Helpline® for encouragement and support from trained helpline specialists.

Join a Free Weekly Support Group
Parents and caregivers can join a free support group to share experiences, build resilience, and support their family’s well-being by filling out the form below. Each Parents Anonymous® Group is led by a trained Group Facilitator and Parent Group Leader.
